David Yurkovich's THE SHOP now Online

Book cover: The SHoP: Volume 01 by David YurkovichMy friend and fellow Top Shelfer Dave Yurkovich is offering one of his graphic novels online, so check it out!
Sleeping Giant Creations is pleased to announce the re-release of THE SHOP (SUPER-HEROES OF PHILADELPHIA) graphic novel. Originally published in 2000 as a 64-page, black and white one-shot, the 2008 revision is now backing print as a full-color, 2-volume digital release. The digital SHOP graphic novel has been optimized for screen reading and requires no annoying mouse scrolling. Writer/illustrator David Yurkovich has revised the original illustrations, and the addition of digital color adds a new dimension to this unflinching story that blends big business, super-heroes, and the human condition.
A companion project to Yurkovich’s LESS THAN HEROES and DEATH BY CHOCOLATE graphic novels, each volume of THE SHOP is available exclusively on wowio.com as a free download. Volume 2 includes previously unseen supplemental materials and notes on the project’s creation and evolution.

Yurkovich is currently completing volume 1 of NOCTURNE, a multi-volume, experimental stream-of-consciousness graphic novel. Watch for volume 1 of NOCTURNE, coming to wowio in mid-to-late May. Yurkovich’s 2007 magazine (MANTLO: A LIFE IN COMICS), a benefit project spotlighting the career of Marvel Comics writer Bill Mantlo, is also being offered as a free download on wowio: http://www.wowio.com/users/product.asp?BookId=3387

MY NEXT GRAPHIC NOVEL ANNOUNCED BY VERTIGO

http://personales.ciudad.com.ar/LoganSan666/imagenes/Vertigo/vertigo%20logo.jpg
This weekend at the New York Comicon, I was thrilled to take part in the "VERTIGO VISIONS" panel, where Executive Editor Karen Berger announced my next graphic novel, THE NOBODY.

The book will be part of an expanded line of Original Graphic Novels from the DC COMICS/VERTIGO line, and will be published in 2009!

I've been a fan of Vertigo, and the DC books that launched the line, and I'm thrilled to be working with Karen Berger, and my editor Bob Schreck on the book.

At this point, I can't say much about the plot, or details, but you can read a more here at Publisher's Weekly, or here at NEWSARAMA.

And, here is some early promo art to wet your appetites...

NOW LEAVING ESSEX COUNTY...

I've been AWOL from the blog lately, it has been an incredibly busy time of year for me as I've been working to finish Essex County Vol.3 before the holidays. And, I'm happy to say that I have indeed done just that, Essex 3: The County Nurse is completely finished, scanned, lettered! (a never before previewed scene above and below...)

After 3 years working on the Essex County books, it feel REALLY GOOD to be done with the project. Moreover, I am really excited to move on to news ideas and new projects. I have started writing and designing my next book, which will be published by Top Shelf. I'm not ready to let the cat out of the bag yet, but in the new year I'll have much more news about the book. But, I will say it is something I'm really excited about, it will be very different from the Essex books, but I think it will still appeal to those fans too.

On other news, my wife is currently exhibiting her work at The One of a Kind Show in Toronto, and I've traded in my brush and pen in for a couple of weeks to help her out.

And, I also thought I'd throw in my picks for the Best Comics of 2007, in no particular order...
